Later that day, as Ed was getting ready to leave he went to Winry's room to say goodbye. Although he knocked on the door, no answer came from within. Trying his luck, Ed pushed the door open to discover the room was empty. With a sigh, he turned to leave the room when he heard voices coming from the kitchen.
As he entered the room, he discovered Alphonse and Major Armstrong had returned. "Edward Elric!" Came the Strongarm Alchemist's booming voice. "I couldn't very well return to Central without you, now could I?"
"No, probably not." Ed answered, with a sigh, casting an annoyed look in Al's direction. All he'd wanted were a couple of hours to smuggle Nina out of here, and he couldn't even get that much from his little brother.
They were just going to have to find a new way to ditch Major Spazz, again. This time, they were going to have to get much more creative.
"I'm going to go say goodbye to Winry." Ed announced, with a shrug as he left the room. Major Armstrong's dilemna when he reached Central alone was his problem. Ed's problem was sneaking a seven-year-old talking chimera out of the house under the military's nose.
"Uh, I better go, too!" Alphonse agreed, jumping to his feet. He followed Ed out of the house, where Nina was waiting in the yard. "Ed, what are we going to do? We can't let the Major see Nina-"
"Yeah, I thought of that, Al. Thanks for keeping the Major distracted for me." Edward retorted, sourly.
"I'm sorry, Ed, it's just that-"
Edward raised a hand, indicating Al should remain quiet. "Come on." He said, "We're going to get out of here." With that, he slid his hands into his pockets and started towards the woods. If they cut through that way Armstrong would never find them. It would take a little longer to get to the train station, but it was the safest route they had.
Once they arrived, Ed got tickets for a train going to Yokohama.* It was a place he'd never heard of before, but it was in the opposite direction of Central. Or any town that would question him about the chimera he travelled with, for that matter.

*Yokohama is the location nearest FMA cities in the RPG this fic was based off of, Anime Unleashed.
